Christmas gifts for the traveler (part one)
I’m the kind of chick who puts a ton of thought in to buying a gift for a friend or a family member. I try to find something relatable on a highly personal level. For example, one year, I bought ornaments for all my friends. Let me take this one step further. My friend Dave loves horror films. To my surprise, I found a trio of ornaments: Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Leatherface. Doesn’t sound too “Christmasy” does it? But wait! They were wearing Santa hats! It was a perfect gift.
Getting back to the theme of Gettin’ Carried Away…
Know someone in your group of friends or in your family who loves to travel? I have a few suggestions… coming to you in a two-post series!

Sky Mall Travel Accessories
I can’t even count the amount of times I have been on a flight and flipped through the Sky Mall magazine. And if I am traveling with someone, I am usually quick to point out all the amazing travel accessories I’d like to have.
One of the coolest gadgets I have seen in Sky Mall is the iPhone-iPod battery. Did you forget to charge your iPod before you left the house? Are you taking an 18-hour flight to another country? Overseas flights, especially, can be a bit draining… on your body and your iPod’s battery. This handy “back-up battery” allows you to juice up your iPod after you’ve flown for 8 or 9 hours, listening to music and watching movies. This item is also equipped with a laser pointer, a built-in LCD light and a snap-on feature that securely fastens the battery to your iPod.
Guidebooks
If you know that your favorite traveler is going on a trip in the near future, give him/her a guidebook! There are tons to choose from, such as Lonely Planet, Eyewitness Travel or Not For Tourists (NFT). I love all of those books. They each offer different perspectives on a given city. For the holidays, the NFT books are a bit smaller, easier to carry, a little less expensive and they make great stocking stuffers.
All-in-one adapter
Wherever your travel friend is going to end up in this great big world, send them off with a gift that they are sure to use! While it does not convert electricity, an all-in-one adapter will allow its owner to use his/her smaller U.S. electronics (laptop, iPod, cell phone charger, etc.) in any country. It also works in reverse if you are thinking of giving this gift to someone in Europe or the UK. You can find these adapters on Amazon.com for an affordable price.
